My Interview with Mela Machinko

Hahaahha watching this cracks me up because I was so nervous (as you all can probably tell in the video). Regardless, Mela Machinko is one of my favorite singers so I had to post this video. She's been featured on alot of songs by some of the biggest names in hip hop. I was blessed to have the opportunity to sit down and talk to her about what she has coming up. If you are not familiar with her. Here's something to get you hip real quick: Ok, now that you've had a brief introduction...Here is the interview:

Carte Blanche feat. Kid Sister - Do! Do! Do!

I really like this video!!!

4 Loko Replacement?

Alot of people have been stocking up on 4 Lokos since many states have already started banning the "crack in a can." Apparently, there is a new alcoholic creation out though. It's "alcoholic whipped cream." "Whipahol" Cream packs a 30-proof wallop. That's 15% alcohol by volume, containing about as much or slightly less alcohol as drinks like Bacardi Mojito and Bailey's Irish Cream. Another brand, Whipped Lightning ranges from 16% to 18% alcohol by volume, equivalent to the alcohol contained in three or four beers — that is, if you ingest the entire canister. It even comes in flavors like chocolate, raspberry, orange and cherry. Cream's MySpace page recommends adding the product to drinks like Jell-O shots. I feel like this has the potential to get very crazy...and that's all I'm gong to say on that one. Source:

My Life According to My Video Phone ft. Aloe Blacc & Maya Jupiter

Here is "My Life According to My Video Phone" Number 2 ft. Aloe Blacc & Maya Jupiter. I still need a name for this series of random footage at random events that I'm at. Someone please help me with coming up with a name. The only suggestion I have received so far was, "My Life According to My Cheap Ass Phone" since the footage sucks :( I received this name suggestion from my father...and I didn't like it. So someone please help me with coming up with a better name. Please and Thank You :)

Here is some music I'm listening to these days

Kids These Days - My Days This group from Chicago consists of "three horns, a rapper, a blues-rock trio and a female singer". Their "Hard Times EP" will be dropping in December.

Why Urban Music is Dead [Video]

I enjoyed watching this video. Ike Dirty gave his perspective on the state of Urban Music. Alot of the points are things that most of you have probably discussed with your friends but it's nice to hear all of the pieces together and think about the bigger picture as it relates to Urban Music. Big ups to for the post.

Jesse Boykins - Itis

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone checking out the site. I hope you shared the day with people you love and ate well!

My Life According to My Video Phone: 11/19 - 26 Weapons

Soooo I'm trying something new....When I go to events I'm going to get some footage on my phone and than I will post it on here. I need help thinking of a name for this series though. As of right now, it's called "My Life According to My Video Phone," but that's long as a mug lol. So please, let me know your suggestions for names for this new series. With that said, here is my first video. It's footage from the "26 Weapons" exhibit at Moderno Gallery in Washington, D.C. presented by Word's, Beats, & Life. The 26 Weapons are the 26 letters of the alphabet. The exhibit did a great job showcasing local talent and emphasized how our words are our most powerful weapon.

I definitely encourage you to support Words, Beats, & Life because they are doing wonderful things in the D.C. community. For more information on Words, Beats, & Life visit

Cool Sites That Inspire

Soooo, I knew about but I was sleeping on These two sites are really amazing and inspiring.
Site Description: TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences -- the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK each summer -- TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and Open TV Project, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.

The Point: Ted posts alot of videos of oustanding speakers, people doing amazing things, and they hold conferences around the world.

Site Description: Acclaimed interviewer and broadcast journalist Charlie Rose engages America's best thinkers, writers, politicians, athletes, entertainers, business leaders, scientists and other newsmakers in one-on-one interviews and roundtable discussions.

The Point: Pick a field that interests you and learn about people who are at the top of that field.

If you are ever feeling writers block, uninspired, or bored I encourage you to go to one of those sites and watch one of these videos.

RatheMc – Victory Lap

My homegirl, Rathemc, is dropping her next mixtape on November 30. I encourage you to check out some of the leaks from the project in the mean time. Than when November 30 comes download, download, download!

Quote(s) of the Day - Purpose

Sooo, I decided that I would try to tweet less and blog more. Why?

1) Sometimes 140 characters is not enough space to get out everything I want to say.

2) My main purpose of being on twitter is to connect with people around the world and sometime's I'm worried I will lose certain connections if I start having long conversations through that platform.

So, with that said, here is my first of many blog posts that has nothing to do with music but was something I just felt like sharing.

William James
The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.

Kenneth Hildebrand
Strong lives are motivated by dynamic purposes; lesser ones exist on wishes and inclinations.

John Ruskin
Tell me what you like and I'll tell you what you are.

Henry David Thoreau
Be not simply good; be good for something.

Denis Waitley
Chase your passion, not your pension.

Thomas Carlyle
The purpose of man is in action not thought.

As you can see the common theme in these quotes is purpose. I want to challenge you who read this as I challenge myself to live each day full of purpose. Too often I think we get caught up in the "daily grind" and get focused on getting from point a to point b that we don't stop and think about what is our purpose and do our actions reflect that purpose. That's why one of my goals that I'm trying to put more attention to is living every day with a mind towards my purpose. I hope that you all will join me in this goal and we can hold each other accountable. Feel free to message me your thoughts.

Top 10 Singers That Warm My Soul

You know how some singers just give you a warm feeling inside like you just ate some cookies fresh out of the oven? Well I decided to create a list of singer’s whose tone gives me that
warm feeling inside. This is not a list of best singers or even my favorite singers. It’s just a list of singers whose voice makes me feel good whenever they start singing. In fact, they could probably sing the words to a Waka Flocka song and I would still get that feeling because of the simple fact that their voices are so smooth and comforting. Please check out the list than let me know who you think I forgot about. Who gives YOU that warm feeling inside when they

Cuffin Season Pt. 1 - "Hello My Name Is"

Hey Everybody,
I'm getting ready to put out my next quick mix. It's called "Cuffin Season Pt. 1" and will be hosted by HU After Dark ( on WHBC 830am in Washington D.C. Pt. 1 is the first mix in the series of slow jam quick mixes.

Jazmine Sullivan - "10 Seconds"

If I were a man, I would be afraid to date Jazmine Sullivan. She has a beautiful voice but she seems to have a consistent theme in her music. First there was "I bust the windows out your car" and now there's "10 Seconds."

Rihanna is on Fire!!!

Can I just say Rihanna is a beast.....a SUPER BEAST! She currently has 2 songs in the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, "What's My Name" ft. Drake at #1 and "Only Girl in the World" at #4 ( in addition to being featured on the # 20 song on the list, "Love The Way You Lie").

Zawcain Interview on The Blender

One of the best cyphers during the BET Hip Hop Awards, was the one hosted by Busta Rhymes (in my opinion). It featured Reek Da Villian, Zawcain, & Mickey Factz. Now I might be biased because I got to hang out with him on "The Blender" but I really think Zawcain stole the show. If you missed it here is the footage:
